Mechanical Assembler - WorkshopWest Midlands£25k (40 hour week) + overtime + good benefits package

The Company

With a history in excess 50 years, my client has been offering liquid engineering solutions to a range of industries that include Marine, Power Generation, Mining and Oil & Gas.As experts in protection systems for critical plant and machinery (effectively diesel and gas engines), this established company offer a full engineering service to clients; ranging from independent specialist firms to large global conglomerates and they pride themselves on offering an excellent service to all.

Due to an enviable and sustainable order book, they are now looking for a suitably qualified and experienced Workshop Engineer to be involved in the assembly and build of non-electric starter systems.

The RoleYou will be responsible for:

  • Working with the Engineering team to build non-electric starter systems of varying design and complexity
  • Utilising engineering drawings to ensure the build is as per design
  • Fitting Hydraulic and Pneumatic pipework and connectors (Swagelok, Parker type fittings), including pipe bending and ensuring the fit is secure and in line with specifications
  • Pressure testing completed systems and reporting / recording results
  • Working within a Lean manufacturing environment (6 sigma) and to high levels of H&S and quality
  • Very occasionally you may need to visit equipment on site for maintenance or remedial work, so a full UK driving licence is required

The PersonIn order to be considered for this Workshop Engineer role you will need:

  • Relevant experience within a similar mechanical fitting / assembly type role
  • An ability to accurately build from engineering drawings
  • Ability to read and interpret BOMS (Bills of Materials) and understand project timing plans
  • Solid understanding and experience of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • An ability to use Swagelok and Parker type connectors
  • Experience of pressure testing hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Pipe bending and associated fitting skills and experience

Those with workshop certificates and training will be of particular interest. FLT / Confined Space etc.
