The company is involved with the design, development and manufacture of complex electric motors and electric drivetrain solutions for the electric vehicle marketplace. Requires: Mechanical Design Engineer Broad range of design skills from complex mechanisms, rotating parts, enclosures, to transmissions, gear boxes, axles, controllers or braking systems A formal higher education engineering qualification (mechanical engineering, automotive engineering etc) Broad range of skills and knowledge (e.g. design, production, NPI, project engineering/management) Broad knowledge of engineering materials (metallics, plastics), and production processes (machining, casting, injection moulding, tooling etc) More - Mechanical Design Engineer They seek a number of mechanical design engineers from engineer to senior and Lead, to create accurate models and drawings, drive and lead technical projects and design tasks and deliver full projects through to production The ideal candidate would be a proven mechanical design engineer with strong experience in SolidWorks 3D CAD, DFM, material selection and practical engineering skills. Good understanding of production techniques and tolerancing would be required The company is small but growing hence a flexible approach, proactive attitude, can-do approach is required as you may get involved with a variety of tasks as the role evolves. Skills and knowledge required: Mechanical Design Engineer A degree in mechanical engineering, automotive engineering or similar coupled with strong practical skills Proven experience as a mechanical or lead design engineer / project engineer, working on precision / dynamic electromechanical components, enclosures, complex mechanisms or assemblies (e.g. electrical machines / electric motors, bearings, stators, gears, transmissions, precision machinery etc) Strong Solidworks CAD experience - Production of 3D models, 2D drawings (DFM, GD&T, BOMs etc) others considered Catia, Inventor, Creo etc Good understanding of materials selection and production techniques for metallic and plastic components (e.g. Casting, machining, pressing, stamping, injection moulding etc) Candidates should be good problem solvers, inquisitive, creative, self-motivated, methodical, focused and with a flexible attitude.
