This role is officed based at Manor Farm, Porton Down, Salisbury, Wiltshire, SP4 0JG

Please be aware that this role can only be worked from within the UK and not overseas. Relocation expenses are not available.

Responsibilities section:

The Environmental Administrator will support the Environmental Manager in implementing site and corporate environmental objectives and targets. They will assist with ensuring members of staff are aware of any environmental legislative and sustainable development issues that relate to operations carried out onsite. The applicant will be required to have good communication and computer skills and will be required to prepare reports on behalf of the Environmental Manager for senior management.

Specific duties will vary depending on current focuses, but examples of these will include:

  • Compilation of and interpretation of audit and analytical data.
  • Support the Environmental Manager in the planning and organisation of remedial activities.
  • Preparation of text, tables, and/or figures for reports.
  • Take minutes for environmental meetings, prepare agendas and meeting documentation.Follow up on actions as required by the environmental manager.
  • Provide administrative support to the management and monitoring of the operation and maintenance of the incinerator and other waste management processes onsite.
  • Maintain an overview of ongoing work within the environmental team in line with agreed deadlines and workplan and monitor and report the progress to team members.
  • Assist the Environmental Manager in collating data / information.
  • Monitor Environmental inbox for correspondence and requests from staff, providing help and advice in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for ensuring that incidents / near misses that are recorded on UKHSA's Trackwise system are investigated and closed out in a timely fashion.

Essential Criteria:

  • Proven administrative skill and language proficiency
  • Proficient in key Microsoft Office products to include Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills at all levels (internal and external)
  • Proactive and methodical approach to work and work challenges, with the ability to prioritise and manage own workload according to business needs.
  • Ability to meet deadlines within a high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, as well as working with minimal supervision.
  • An understanding of and commitment to equality of opportunity and good working relationships, both in terms of day to day working practices, but also in relation to management systems.

STAGE 1 - APPLICATION & SIFT:

STAGE 2 - INTERVIEW

This competition will involve an interview by video.

As part of the process, candidates will be invited to interview which will involve an in-depth discussion of your previous experience and professional competence in relation to the criteria set out in the Person Specification.

Your Statement of Suitability should outline your skills, experience, and achievements, providing evidence of your suitability for the role, with reference to the essential criteria (outlined in the person specification section).

You will also be asked to provide information within the 'Employer/ Activity history' section of the application form. This is equivalent to the information you would provide on a CV, setting out your career history.
